"Art for culturally conscious people"
SerraLuna Art
I am a self-taught Puerto Rican artist and I am very proud of my culturally diverse heritage. My upbringing and childhood memories are the inspiration for my work. I am fascinated by the unique genetic make-up of our race. My work represents daily life scenarios, celebrations, food, heritage and I want my European, Indigenous and African blood lines to be represented and honored in my pieces.
I want those memories to show through my work and make the viewer nostalgic. I want them to look at an image and say, “my grandmother used to do that” or “I knew a lady in my neighborhood that looked like that”.
I invite my audience to take a trip down memory lane, see grandma brewing that cup of coffee or cooking outside by el fogón (the hearth). No matter what piece they are looking at, they will find an image that will resonate with them and find a connection that will bring them back home.
